Earthquake in Morocco
Dear friends and acquaintances,
It happened on September 8th at 11.14 p.m. – the great disaster, the earthquake, the catastrophe struck Morocco.
What happened there is simply unimaginable until it happens.
We are doing well but many are not.
The solidarity of the Moroccan population is great, and first aid was provided immediately. Today, everyone who survived has something to eat and drink again, and a place where they can wait and hope in safety that their life will somehow return to normal .
How do we help is a question we ask ourselves.
You can say it like this:
Short term:
Our friend Christian from Cercle Suisse, for example, has bees in a remote valley. So he organized food, blankets and a nurse who gave up her vacation. They drove and drive to the area and provide first aid.
Medium term:
We'll be heading to the area ourselves starting October 11th.
Our work in Morocco began 25 years ago in Imlil with Brahim and Omar. Both of them remained unharmed. They live in the middle of the earthquake zone. Together with them we want to analyze how we can help.
For example: There are six school homes for girls who attend the collège. In the public school. They come from far away and can sleep in the home, eat and have supervision from Monday to Friday. Five of the six homes no longer exist. www.efamorocco.org
On his trips to the area, Christian also discovered people who needed medical treatment.
A different topic.
Annette Korolnik, researcher of ethnic groups in the High Atlas, will support the project with her resources.
In this sense, you will hear from us again
Best regards
Ed
